Today's snippet is one of my favorite scenes. We join Tough Girl back on Planet Girth. Her assignment is to kidnap the mayor, Chihihaga.
When he was tucked safely away into the backseat of his limo, TG took off her wig.
“Oh, no. I don’t like blue hair. Put it back on,” Chihihaga said. “Blue is my least favorite color.”
“You’d be wise to shut up now.” She cracked her neck and took off her high heels.
“Driver. Stop the car. I’d like this woman thrown out please.” When there was no response, Chihihaga tapped on the glass. “Hello. Driver? Hello? I’m in unpleasant company. I’d prefer a more civilized companion.”
TG was half undressed and struggling to pull on her white T-shirt. The red dress lay wrinkled in a heap on the floor.
“You can talk to him all you like, but I doubt he’ll respond.”
“Because that’s my driver. Yours has been detained.”
Chihihaga leaned back in his seat. He looked out the tinted windows as the city passed by. “I’m not going to like where we’re going, am I?”
“I sincerely doubt it.”
“Is there alcohol available?”
TG poured Chihihaga a glass of scotch. When his hands shook too much, she held it for him and poured sips into his mouth.
“Am I going to be killed?” he asked.
“I don’t know.”
“Will it hurt, do you think? Whatever they’re going to do to me?”
“I don’t know,” TG answered him truthfully. She raised the glass to his lips and poured a bit into his mouth. “My job was to deliver you. Once you’re there, I have no idea what you can expect.”
“I see. Well. I suppose another glass is in order then.”
