My Dreams Are Improving!
So, if you've been reading the blog, then you know that I have the tendency to have very boring dreams. Well, I've been proactive since that post. Every night, before I sleep, I tell myself to have interesting dreams. And, it works!!! I've only had one dream of going back to school since then, and even then I was at a new school. I know it's a little thing, but really, it's the coolest thing ever. My brain is finally out of a 10 year dream funk. I feel like a whole new me.
In other news, I am STILL adjusting to working full time. I just started to work out again. Haven't even started writing yet. Boooo!!! One day, I will be kickbutt at life, right now, not so much.
What's new with you guys?

I'd like to have interesting dreams, especially because I can usually just remember the nightmares and the weird ones. I'd like to have a dream where my loud neighbors take a permanent vow of silence, and it would be even nicer if that dream came true. But I digress. :)
ReplyDeleteI tend to have the more vivid and/or memorable dreams in cycles. Dunno why. I've never been able to steer or precipitate dreams. At all. Rarely have any contained nuggets worth using in my writing though. But I'm glad you're making progress. In my view, that's no small accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteI had a dream last night that I kept driving past a dentist's house. Don't ask me why. It was really boring.
ReplyDeleteHi Libby,
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear that you've garnered some control over your dreams. I think we have more control over what we dream than most people think.
I came up with a killer premise for a short story. I couldn't stop thinking about it from 6pm to 11pm. Flood gates were open and lo an behold I dreamed about it.
You asked what's new.
I really like this s.s. idea and I want to do it justice. I'm going to focus the next few months on craft. I just never had the training in creative writing, I was a science major. So, I've ordered some textbooks and I'm going to self-educate.
Someone suggested Method and Madness.
I think that's a wonderful plan!
DeleteI need to start telling myself that.
ReplyDeleteI've had rather disturbing dreams lately... I'll have to try your trick and tell myself to have better ones.
ReplyDeleteI managed to find a beta reader for a science fiction manuscript I wrote a few years ago. Some mutual friends got her excited about my writing, and she's already given me useful feedback.
