So, big news in Libbyland. The hubby and I have met all of our savings goals and paid off the car so, as a reward, I'm leaving my job two months ahead of schedule! My last day will be in early April. Expect me back blogosphere!
I was already starting to make really good progress on the novel; I'm on chapter three of the rewrite now. I think I may have this draft done by June and ready for critique/edits by the end of June. So, 2012 will see my first novel released. This also means more time for short stories so expect the new collection soon (I know I keep saying this, but now I will actually have the time to do it.)
There may even be a few more Flash Fiction Fridays up my sleeve, we shall see.
In other news on the interwebs: if you saw my post last week you know I have a director buddy that's
trying to raise money for a short movie. They're at the half way mark and have released a new update. Since so many people that read this blog are writers, I thought you would get a kick out of their take on plot twists:
Half Way Hostage Update from Unreal Classy on Vimeo.
The project is a dark comedy and reminds me a bit of Fargo in tone. I've read the script and can't wait to see the final project. Here's a link:

And here is one of my favorite memes:
Oh Willy Wonka/Gene Wilder. Everything sounds cooler when you say it.
How is your world?

That's awesome! I can't wait to read your novel and the new collection. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThats awesome! Congrats on paying off the car! Having more time to write is a blessing. I need to get back to rewriting.
ReplyDeleteI loved Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka so much that I couldn't bring myself to watch the newer version of that movie, even though I do like Johnny Depp as an actor. And congratulations on achieving your goals and being able to leave your job early! That's the kind of thing that a lot of people can only dream about!
ReplyDeleteYay, Libby gets to quit the job and get back to writing. That is good news.
ReplyDeleteAnd I had to laugh at your post title. My birthday is in May and I always refer to it as the month of Me. Everyone should have their own month. :)
Also, I shall have a pint in your honor while away in the UK.
Thanks guys!
ReplyDelete@LG - is this the trip to Wales? If so, yay research!!!!
Lucky you, here you are able to quit your job and I'm struggling to find one. :P
ReplyDelete@Dwei - I'm lucky now. I will not be lucky when I have to find a new job in a new state. I know it's a bear!
ReplyDeletecongrats on paying off all your stuff. I wish I could say the same
